NYICFF is an Academy Award® qualifying festival in the live action and animated short film categories. To find out more about eligibility, please visit www.oscars.org.

NYICFF designates Short Films as works with running time less than 40 minutes in length. Works with running times of 40 minutes or longer should be submitted using the NYICFF Feature Film Entry Form.

NYICFF accepts submissions throughout the calendar year. Entries received prior to October 6, 2014 will be considered for the annual New York Int'l Children's Film Festival taking place March 2015.

To be eligible to screen in competition, Production must be completed no earlier than January 1, 2013.

Foreign language dialogue or narration must be subtitled or dubbed in English. Entries may be submitted on a playable DVD (NO Data DVDs) or online screening link, accompanied by a completed Entry Form and Entry Fee. If submitting a link to an online screener, ensure that it does not expire and provide any necessary passwords. Please include available promotional materials such as: high-resolution stills, production credits, director's biography, and press reviews.

The Entry Fee for Short Film submissions is:

$40 - Early Deadline - Received by Sept 8, 2014
$60 - Final Deadline - Received by Oct 6, 2014
$25 - Student Film - Received by Oct 6, 2014


A separate Entry Form and Entry Fee is required for each film submitted. Entry Fees may be paid via credit card at www.gkids.com, by money order, or by US dollar denominated check drawn on a US bank. Money orders and checks should be made payable to "NYICFF". Entry Fees are not refundable.

Entry and Entry materials will not be returned. You will be contacted by NYICFF only if Entry is selected for participation. The 2015 Festival lineup will be posted at www.gkids.com in February of 2015.

Once submitted, Entries may not be withdrawn from participation in NYICFF. In the event of selection, Entrant agrees to arrange and pay costs to deliver to NYICFF an HD digital video file of the Entry by electronic file transfer or on a physical digital storage device. Acceptable format for exhibition is HD ProRes QuickTime File (Preferred) or HD H.264 QuickTime File.

By submitting a film, Entrant irrevocably grants NYICFF the following rights with respect to the Entry on a "free-use" no-fee basis: the exclusive right within the greater New York City area to exhibit the Entry publically one or multiple times during the NYICFF 2015 annual event and for a period of six weeks thereafter; the right to present or allow others to present excerpts of the Entry up to a total of three minutes in length in any medium for promotional purposes; to incorporate and use stills, art, biographical material, names and likenesses from the Entry for promotional purposes and in NYICFF merchandise; to provide DVD screeners of the Entry to journalists for review; to exhibit the Entry at press and promotional screenings; to loan copies of the Entry to US schools for educational in-class use or promotional purposes; to electronically duplicate the Entry for the purpose of compiling a screening master for projection; to make the Entry available for public exhibition at US theaters nationally for a period of twelve months following the festival as part of the "Best of NYICFF" touring festival and/or at NYICFF-produced festival events in other US cities; to exhibit in online Festival; to use in limited run DVD compilation to be sold by NYICFF as a fundraising drive; to retain any and all revenues from ticket sales, merchandise, rental fees, and sponsorship associated with Entry's participation in NYICFF or these associated events.

NYICFF shall use best efforts to ensure correct title and credits are listed on festival materials but shall not be held liable for inadvertent errors and omissions. NYICFF reserves the right to adjust dates and times of film screenings and shall not be responsible for delays or cancellations due to equipment failure, shipping delays, inclement weather, or for any reason outside the control of NYICFF. NYICFF reserves the right to decide all questions not specifically provided for herein.
