Miyazaki Meets Pixar in “April and the Extraordinary World”

What better film to release in April than April and the Extraordinary World! (See what we did there, yeah we’re real clever). April opened to glowing reviews and remains strong at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, but don’t take it from us, we’ll let the critics speak for themselves.

“Beautiful, inventive, and uncannily satisfying!
The movie so teems with delightful detail and has such an exuberant sense of play that it feels entirely fresh.”
– New York Times

“Strangely wonderful, wonderfully strange!”
Part science fiction cosmos, part alternate reality steampunk universe and all adventure all the time, the cosmos Tardi has visualized and screenwriters Ekinci and Benjamin Legrand have written is imaginative in a way that by intention is both familiar and out of this world.”
-Los Angeles Times

“Miyazaki meets Pixar!
A rousing, thrilling adventure, beautifully animated, it’s also a powerfully emotional piece, about family and friendship, about betrayal and disappointment, and about first love and old enmities. An adventure for the heart as well as the mind!”
– The Verge

“Skip Batman v Superman. There’s a much better comic book film out right now!
-Vox

“A fascinating, captivating film!”
-RogerEbert.com

“It’s downright extraordinary! A rollicking, old-timey pulp adventure!”
-Village Voice

“Thrilling! A film with instant-classic appeal!”
-Variety

“Two words of advice: Buckle up!
You’ll be in for a wonderful ride littered with talking cats, fabulous steampunk backdrops, rollercoaster excitement, and terrific characters, all drawn through the fundamental beauty of cell animation.”
– Paste
