FROM THREE-TIME GOYA AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR ALBERTO VÁZQUEZ

Based on the Award-Winning 2016 Short of the Same Name, Decorado Comes to North American Theatres Beginning May 15

Tickets are now on sale for DECORADO, the 2026 Goya Award-winner for Best Animated Feature from acclaimed director Alberto Vázquez’s (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, Unicorn Wars). The fantastical animated horror flick comes to theatres in North America in its original Spanish language and an all-new English language dub beginning May 15.

GKIDS, the acclaimed animation distributor and producer, also revealed a new English dub trailer for the film. The English dub voice cast stars David Goldstein as “Arnold”, Marissa Parness as “María”, Brian Maillard as “Duck Roni”, Brian Villalobos as “Ramiro”, and Rene Mujica as “Gregorio”.

Alberto Vásquez is best known for his uniquely surreal visual storytelling and instantly recognizable animal character design. DECORADO is based on Vásquez’s 2016 short film of the same name, presenting a darkly satirical fable about a middle-aged mouse on the verge of an existential crisis. The short went on to win multiple awards, including Best Animated Short Film at the 2017 Goya Awards. The feature film made its world premiere at last year’s Fantastic Fest this past September, followed by its domestic release in Spain in October.

Synopsis:

Something is wrong in the city of Anywhere. Arnold, an unemployed middle-aged mouse, confides to his wife Maria that he suspects his entire world is nothing more than a set, and his life a scripted performance. When his best friend Ramiro dies under mysterious circumstances, he traces the conspiracy to a monolithic corporation whose influence reaches every corner of their daily lives.
Adapted from the acclaimed 2016 short film by director Alberto Vázquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, Unicorn Wars), Decorado blends biting humor with haunting beauty in a darkly comedic odyssey through our era of social control, manufactured realities, and the quest for authentic human connection.
