GKIDS, the Academy Award®-winning producer and distributor of acclaimed and artist-driven animation, announced the critically acclaimed animated feature, 100 Meters, from director Kenji Iwaisawa (On-Gaku: Our Sound) is coming to home video on Blu-ray. Pre-orders are now open for the Collector’s Edition and will be exclusively available at the GKIDS online store on December 1, 2026.
Based on the beloved manga by Uoto, author of “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth”, which also received a recent anime adaptation, GKIDS first released 100 Meters theatrically across North America last October. Following its world premiere as an official selection at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the animated sports drama went on to receive a number of nominations, including New York Film Critics, Online 2025 Best Animated Feature and Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026 Film of the Year.
Togashi is a track star who was born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without effort. But in the sixth grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. In teaching him, Togashi gives Komiya a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, and Togashi and Komiya meet again on the track as rivals—and reveal their true selves.
100 Meters is the second feature from director Kenji Iwaisawa, whose previous project On-Gaku: Our Sound was a seven-year labor of love made almost entirely independently. Now with a full studio team, screenwriter Yasuyuki Muto (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway), and composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Jujutsu Kaisen), Iwaisawa has delivered a spectacular, explosive tale of heartbreak and victory in his now-signature rotoscope style.
100 Meters is the latest title to join the growing home entertainment catalog available exclusively at the GKIDS online store. This past July, GKIDS announced a slate of premium home entertainment titles during its Anime Expo Industry panel, including new 4K & Blu-ray editions of LINDA LINDA LINDA (2005), Look Back (2024), Angel’s Egg (1985) and LOVE & POP (1998). Each exclusive release features new artwork, premium collectible packaging, and a wide range of bonus content.
