Alberto Vázquez has had a long career as an illustrator, both for publishers and the news media. He’s the author of numerous graphic novels published in various countries. He has written and directed successful animated short films, including Birdboy, UNICORN WARS, Decorado, and Homeless Home.
Alberto Vázquez is a two- time winner of the Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film (for Birdboy, in 2012, and for Decorado, in 2017). He also won a Goya for Best Feature-Length Animated Film in 2017, for Psiconautas. He is the recipient of more than 100 international awards, and his films have been selected for prestigious festivals throughout the world, such as Cannes, EFA Awards, Toronto, Annecy, Clermont-Ferrand, Animafest Zagreb, and Slamdance.
In 2015, he wrote and directed his first feature-length animated film, Birdboy: The Forgotten Children (Psiconautas), for which he also served as artistic director. The film is based on his graphic novel Psiconautas. This year, he’s releasing his new feature-length film, UNICORN WARS, his most complex and ambitious project yet.
